StatsDeck is a custom connector for Claude, utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework. Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, built for deep reasoning and data analysis.

Think of StatsDeck as a bolt-on toolkit that pipes in the NFL data, context, and league information Claude lacks out of the box — your roster, your league's exact scoring, current-week stats, and more.

StatsDeck also adds proprietary algorithms and models that supplement your decision-making, so you and Claude are working from the right inputs instead of guesses.

Two things worth knowing: ask Claude to "make me a visualization" and StatsDeck will render a clean visual of your roster, a matchup, a trade, and more. And when you want to dig in, just say "I want to go deeper" — that unlocks a more advanced mode with richer detail and analysis.

Claude is genuinely smart about football — it can reason about strategy, matchups, and trades better than most tools. But on its own, it's working from memory, without access to your league or current NFL data.

That's the gap StatsDeck fills. It pipes in your actual roster and your league's exact scoring, then puts the full nflverse dataset behind every answer — hundreds of data points per player, refreshed through game days and backed by more than a decade of history. So Claude's reasoning runs on real, current data instead of guesses. StatsDeck also adds proprietary models and algorithms for things like projections and matchup adjustments.

StatsDeck is built on nflverse, a trusted open NFL data source, with historical data going back to 2015.

During the season we refresh frequently throughout game days, so the numbers you and Claude are working from stay current with what's actually happening on the field.

StatsDeck is completely free.

Claude itself is also free to use, though free accounts have usage limits that reset on a rolling basis. If you use Claude a lot, paid plans start at $20/month (Claude Pro) and raise those limits significantly.

For most fantasy managers, the free tier is plenty to get real value out of StatsDeck.

StatsDeck supports Sleeper and ESPN (both public and private leagues) today, with Yahoo coming soon. It works with your league's exact scoring and handles common league types including redraft, dynasty, and best ball.

You don't even need a connected league to get value: without connecting anything, you can talk through players, matchups, draft strategy, waiver ideas, and more.

And if you're on Yahoo (or any platform) before it's fully supported, you can still use StatsDeck now — just post screenshots to Claude of your roster, trade offers, or anything else you'd like a read on.

Just like an app, we're always shipping improvements and updates. Most arrive automatically with nothing needed from you. Occasionally a significant change requires a quick refresh to take effect — when that happens, StatsDeck will try to let you know right in the chat.

To make sure you're always up to date, periodically do the following:

In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors > StatsDeck > click the three-dots next to "Disconnect" and choose Refresh Tools List.

Your leagues and scoring stay saved, and ESPN private-league users won't need to re-enter their cookies.

No. StatsDeck doesn't support DFS or work with any odds or betting data. We're focused entirely on season-long fantasy football.

No — StatsDeck is read-only. You and Claude strategize and plan together, but you always make the actual moves and set your lineup through your league's interface, just as you always have.

StatsDeck can even draft the trade-proposal message for you, but you're the one who sends it and manages your team. You stay in full control at every step.

When you chat with Claude, a model menu sits near the message box that lets you pick which Claude model answers you.

Model	Good for
Sonnet (default)	Fast and capable, and free for everyone — what Claude starts you on. StatsDeck runs well on it.
Opus (paid plans)	A step up: deeper reasoning and richer visualizations.
Fable (paid plans)	Anthropic's most powerful model — more than fantasy questions call for.

Claude starts everyone on Sonnet — the free, default model — and StatsDeck runs well on it, so you don't need to change anything to get going. On Claude's paid plans, Opus is a step up: deeper reasoning and richer visualizations.

One note on limits: every Claude plan caps how much you can use over a rolling window, and heavier models spend that budget faster. Free-plan limits are the tightest, and Opus isn't available on the free tier — so if you're starting out free, Sonnet is your model, and StatsDeck works well on it.

It's a polarizing question. Some feel AI removes the human element, or gives an unfair advantage in managing a team.

Our take: fantasy managers — like all sports decision-makers — want the most comprehensive data available to inform their calls. StatsDeck isn't an autopilot for your team, it's your analytics partner.

No AI can predict the future. At the end of the day, football is played by humans on a field where anything can and does happen — and that's the real fun.
