StatsDeck is a custom connector for Claude, utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework. Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, built for deep reasoning and data analysis.

Think of StatsDeck as a bolt-on toolkit that pipes in the NFL data, context, and league information Claude lacks out of the box — your roster, your league's exact scoring, current-week stats, and more.

StatsDeck also adds proprietary algorithms and models that supplement your decision-making, so you and Claude are working from the right inputs instead of guesses.

Quite a lot — from roster analysis and start/sit calls to matchup breakdowns, trade evaluation, waivers, and more. You can see the full rundown in the everything-you-can-do section above.

Two things worth knowing: ask Claude to "make me a visualization" and StatsDeck will render a clean visual of your roster, a matchup, a trade, and more. And when you want to dig in, just say "I want to go deeper" — that unlocks a more advanced mode with richer detail and analysis.

Claude is genuinely smart about football — it can reason about strategy, matchups, and trades better than most tools. But on its own, it's working from memory, without access to your league or current NFL data.

That's the gap StatsDeck fills. It pipes in your actual roster and your league's exact scoring, then puts the full nflverse dataset behind every answer — hundreds of data points per player, refreshed through game days and backed by more than a decade of history. So Claude's reasoning runs on real, current data instead of guesses. StatsDeck also adds proprietary models and algorithms for things like projections and matchup adjustments.

StatsDeck pulls from two sources, and they refresh on different clocks.

Your league — rosters, lineups, matchup scores, standings — comes straight from Sleeper, ESPN, or Yahoo the moment you ask. This is always live: when you ask, we read your league's current state right then.

NFL stats — player production, snap counts, depth charts, defensive matchup numbers, schedules — come from nflverse, a trusted open NFL data source, and live in our own database. History goes back to 2012, so there's better than a decade of production behind every number.

Here's what "fresh" means in practice, because it isn't the same as "real-time":

• Scores and schedules update within minutes. If a game is in progress, the score you see is essentially live.
• Stat lines — yards, touchdowns, catches, fantasy points — update in waves through the day, not the instant a play happens. nflverse rebuilds the clean box-score data at several points during game day, then does a complete pass overnight. A player's line firms up over the course of the day and is settled by the next morning.
• Snap counts refresh a few times a day.
• Depth charts and rosters refresh once a day.

One consequence worth knowing: if you check a player right after the earliest game of the day, that individual line may not be posted yet. It lands with a later refresh that day and is final overnight.

Two accuracy notes: the NFL issues official stat corrections through the following Wednesday, so a Thursday number is the most settled version of a given week. And any time you want to confirm how current your data is, just ask — every stats answer is stamped, and the model can tell you exactly what the data covers and when it was last refreshed, in your local time where it can.

Injuries move faster than official reports, so StatsDeck uses a layered approach — and always tells you where each piece came from and when.

The official report is the system of record. During the season this is the NFL's weekly injury report — the Out / Doubtful / Questionable practice designations. It's authoritative but slow: it only exists on the league's weekly cadence, and in the offseason it's usually empty.

Between those reports, we track dated "intel" so you're not flying blind mid-week or over the summer. We scan the web every day — across a wide range of beat reporters, team channels, and national outlets — so new developments get picked up quickly instead of waiting on the next official report. Every item is tagged with its source and the date it was reported. There are two kinds:

• Feed designations — fast status flags from the Sleeper platform (Questionable, IR, PUP, and so on). Quick, but often just a status with no detail, so we treat them as a flag to verify, not a verdict.
• Corroborated reports — items we've confirmed against reporting, with a short note explaining the situation (e.g. "ruled out for the season after knee surgery," "activated off PUP"). These carry more weight.

A few principles we stick to:

• Sourced and dated, always. Every item shows where it came from and when, so you can judge how current and how solid it is.
• Corroboration isn't severity. When we mark something well-corroborated, that's how confident we are in the report — not how serious the injury is.
• The official report wins ties. When the official report and our intel disagree, we show you both with their dates and let you decide. Intel supplements the official report — it never overwrites it.
• Absence isn't health. Players on injured reserve drop off the weekly report entirely, so a player not appearing isn't proof they're healthy.
• Not every flag is an injury. Feed statuses sometimes reflect holdouts, rest days, or roster moves — which is exactly why the date and source matter.

As with everything else, you can ask how current any of this is, and the model will give you the date on each item. And if you want the very latest on a specific player, just ask the model to run a web search on the spot — it can pull in up-to-the-minute reporting beyond what we've already logged.

StatsDeck is completely free.

Claude itself is also free to use, though free accounts have usage limits that reset on a rolling basis. If you use Claude a lot, paid plans start at $20/month (Claude Pro) and raise those limits significantly.

For most fantasy managers, the free tier is plenty to get real value out of StatsDeck.

StatsDeck supports Sleeper, ESPN (both public and private leagues), and Yahoo. It works with your league's exact scoring and handles common league types including redraft, dynasty, and best ball.

You don't even need a connected league to get value: without connecting anything, you can talk through players, matchups, draft strategy, waiver ideas, and more.

And on any platform we don't support yet, you can still use StatsDeck now — just post screenshots to Claude of your roster, trade offers, or anything else you'd like a read on.

StatsDeck is built for season-long fantasy football — it does not support DFS, odds, or betting.

Note: Your league's scoring settings are imported when you connect. If your commissioner changes the scoring later, ask Claude to reconnect your league to pick up the new settings.

Switching between your different leagues on StatsDeck is easy, including switching between platforms. In general, simply ask StatsDeck to disconnect your current league first, then ask to connect the next one.

Switching Leagues & Platforms

Sleeper:

• Switch to a different Sleeper league:
  • "Switch to my Sleeper league (league name)"
  • You can also ask it to list your Sleeper leagues
• Switch to ESPN or Yahoo:
  • Ask Claude to disconnect your Sleeper league first. It will ask you to confirm to proceed.
  • Then ask Claude to connect to your ESPN or Yahoo league and provide the league ID

ESPN:

• Switch to a different ESPN league:
  • "Switch to my ESPN league (league ID)"
  • You don't need to disconnect first, but you do need to provide the league ID
• Switch to Sleeper or Yahoo:
  • Ask Claude to disconnect your ESPN league first. It will ask you to confirm to proceed.
  • Then ask Claude to connect to your Sleeper or Yahoo league

Yahoo:

• Switch to a different Yahoo league:
  • You do need to disconnect your current league first
  • Then "Connect to my Yahoo league (league ID)"
• Switch to Sleeper or ESPN:
  • Ask Claude to disconnect your Yahoo league first. It will ask you to confirm to proceed.
  • Then ask Claude to connect to your Sleeper or ESPN league

Ask about trades and StatsDeck pulls the trades your league has completed, values both sides under your league's exact scoring, and can help you weigh or build an offer. What it can see depends on your platform:

• ESPN: completed trades and pending offers.
• Sleeper: completed trades, including any draft picks or FAAB that changed hands. Pending offers aren't visible.
• Yahoo: completed trades. Pending offers aren't visible.

If you have an offer open on Sleeper or Yahoo, describe it or paste a screenshot and StatsDeck evaluates it the same way it would a trade it can read directly.

What about waivers and FAAB?

Ask for the waiver wire or free agents and StatsDeck ranks the best available players in your league under your scoring and tells you what it takes to get each one.

Most unrostered players are free agents you can add right away. StatsDeck also surfaces your league's acquisition setup:

• Rolling waiver priority: your current position (for example, 4 of 12).
• FAAB: your remaining budget.

No. StatsDeck doesn't support DFS or work with any odds or betting data. We're focused entirely on season-long fantasy football.

No — StatsDeck is read-only. You and Claude strategize and plan together, but you always make the actual moves and set your lineup through your league's interface, just as you always have.

StatsDeck can even draft the trade-proposal message for you, but you're the one who sends it and manages your team. You stay in full control at every step.

When you chat with Claude, a model menu sits near the message box that lets you pick which Claude model answers you.

Model	Good for
Sonnet (default)	Fast and capable, and free for everyone — what Claude starts you on. StatsDeck runs well on it.
Opus (paid plans)	A step up: deeper reasoning and richer visualizations.
Fable (paid plans)	Anthropic's most powerful model — more than fantasy questions call for.

Claude starts everyone on Sonnet — the free, default model — and StatsDeck runs well on it, so you don't need to change anything to get going. On Claude's paid plans, Opus is a step up: deeper reasoning and richer visualizations.

One note on limits: every Claude plan caps how much you can use over a rolling window, and heavier models spend that budget faster. Free-plan limits are the tightest, and Opus isn't available on the free tier — so if you're starting out free, Sonnet is your model, and StatsDeck works well on it.

It's a polarizing question. Some feel AI removes the human element, or gives an unfair advantage in managing a team.

Our take: fantasy managers — like all sports decision-makers — want the most comprehensive data available to inform their calls. StatsDeck isn't an autopilot for your team, it's your analytics partner.

No AI can predict the future. At the end of the day, football is played by humans on a field where anything can and does happen — and that's the real fun.
